Oenocarpus bataua is palm tree native to tropical areas of northern South America, it grows mainly in swampy areas. It produces edible fruits. By cold pressing of the seeds is obtained a yellow-greenish oil that resembles olive oil, with little flavor and odor.

Composition, actives:

physical appearance and composition of fatty acids that are similar to olive oil (Olea europaea). Its high content of unsaturated fatty acids is remarkable (omega 9 oleic acid 45%).

Part used: seed
Applications, properties:

moisturizing properties because of its high content of oleic acid. Can be used for skin and hair care.
