Description :

Bertholletia excelsa is one of the largest trees in the virgin forest of South America (more than 30m high). It produces fruits in the form of very thick brown shell that can reach 20 to 30 cm in diameter, containing seeds in a hard envelope surrounding the nut. Nuts are 4 to 5cm long, by cold pressing them is obtained a bright, golden, extremely light oil with "ester-like" feeling.

Composition, actifs :

75% unsaturated fatty acids composed mainly of palmitic, oleic, and linolenic acids, as well as the phytosterol sistosterol, and the fat-soluble vitamins A and E. Very rich in Selenium (antioxidant).

Applications, propriétés :

anti-free radical, antioxidant, and moisturizing. The cosmetic industry uses Brazil nut oil among other in anti-aging skin products and in conditioners for damaged and dehydrated hair.
